Introduction

The first Snead to arrive in America was Samual Snead in 1635. He traveled from England with his wife, Alice and son, William. The "weight of evidence" suggests that William's son, Charles resided in Fluvanna as early as 1740. Charles' son Archibald had a son named John who was the father of the 3 Snead brothers - William, Benjamin and George. The 3 Snead brothers married 3 Pollard sisters and each had 7 sons. Our earliest family tree (June 1958) depicts the progeny of the 3 brothers and their wives.

Here are pictures of the 3 brothers and their wives:

William Snead married Lucinda Pollard in 1824. They had 7 sons and 3 daughters.
Benjamin Snead married Elizabeth Pollard in 1828. They had 7 sons and 1 daughter.
George Snead married Oranie Pollard in 1825. They had 7 sons and 1 daughter.

This picture shows some of the sons of the 3 sons.
